Kite

Allround SLE kite + one pump system

Designer goals

The Kahoona+ delivers the perfect mix of freeride performance for every riding style and every skill level.

If you want the convenience of EZ-Pump™ inflation with easy handling, solid performance and day long comfort then the Kahoona+ v5 is the ultimate freeride kite. Automatic relaunch, reliable downwind drift and rock solid stability make the Kahoona perfect for attacking any wave or any new trick.

With a reputation for surprising hang-time and great low-end power it’s no wonder riders like you return to it season after season. With more responsive handling, reduced bar pressure and best in class stability courtesy of revised canopy design and our new Double Core RS canopy fabric, the v5 is our most advanced Kahoona yet.

Bar

Kite bar 2013 best kiteboardingEvery molded part of the RP-Bar v3 has been re-engineered to help you push your riding further than ever before. The Pro-Cuff+ quick release surpasses current international testing standards and delivers simple, one handed safety activation. Even with flying line loads of 250kg the release pressure for the Pro- Cuff+ quick release never exceeds 5kg.

The innovative Sacrifice Insert System helps eliminate center line wear. Two low friction, replaceable, Delrin inserts line the center of the bar, helping to ensure you never have to replace another depower line. The Double-Depower Stopper lets you position your bar wherever you feel comfortable. It takes the strain from your arms so you can stay on the water for longer. The Redline Safety System gives you the option of left or right handed, single front line leashing and overrides the Dual Depower Stopper automatically.

We’ve kept the Big Ass Bar Ends for your safety and comfort and reformulated the EVA for more grip and less slip. With sleeved leader lines and low stretch, 700lb rated flying lines the RP-Bar v3 package is already the most loved 4-line bar we make.

What we like:
The feedback from every rider who has experienced the Kahoona is that this kite rides like a dream. The Kahoona has consistent relaunch because of the swept wing tip too. We have been putting the Kahoona through its paces for several years in the REAL Lesson Center and it stands up to the test again and again. It’s worth adding too that the low end power (bottom of the kite’s wind range) is superb.

What we don’t like:
The V5 Kahoona is really sensitive to back line tension, so if you oversheet this kite it can back stall. The wing tip deflectors are stiff which means that if you crash and roll the kite, the bridle can get caught and make the kite hard to relaunch. The Kahoona sometimes feels a little sluggish through the wind window, especially in the bigger sizes. Riders looking for more of a “performance” kite should take a look at the 2013 Best TS Kite

Why you want the 2013 Best Kahoona:
The Kahoona has a phenomenal reputation and appeals to a lot of the kiteboaridng market. Beginner, intermediate, freerider, cruiser, lawn-mower, weekend-warrior – you get the idea!

I can't write a huge review, but I can tell you that it's easy to fly. impossible not to relaunch and super smooth even in awful gusty winds. It's one kite this girl wouldn't be without. I can ride it happily in lighter winds, my boyfriend uses it when it's blowing hard. It's a great all round kite Best have hit the spot with the Kahoona yet again.
