4 strut allround freestyle kite
Designers goals (manufacturer text)
Delivering smooth power, potent lift and a presice feel, the 2014 NRG is truly a freestyle/freeride dream kite. With it's ultra flat, shallow profile, this third generationm NRG is built on an efficient four strut platform, which lets the kite fly more forward in the window, offering superior upwind performance, fast sweeping turns and exhilarating lift for mega air and solid low-end pull. New for 2014 is our low-profile Cascade Bridle. which features smooth power delivery, immediate response, direct connections and eliminates the possibility of wingtip bridle wraps. And like all other LF kites, the NRG features durable construction, single point Max flow inflation and our super safe CPR control system. If you are looking for pure riding excitement in an easy to use package then the NRG is your kite. From freestyle to freeride to kiting in surf, the NRG delivers all out fun.

When you pull the bar, the kite moves. There is no delay or lag in response time so you get instant turning speed even on the larger sizes. Not only is the turning speed fast, but the kite rides fast too. If you want to go upwind well you can check that one off the list too. The NRG rips upwind making it a favorite with kitesurfers that want to get back to the top of the line up quickly.
We were really surprised with the easy water relaunch. Most performance kites are not that great at water relaunch and the NRG excels at it. As we continued to test the NRG we could not believe how many people liked this kite. It is really user friendly and the people that love to boost were freaking about the hang time (in a good way)!
What we don't like:
With the flatter profile and no center strut, the NRG has a ton of usable wind range with the kite at full power. We found that when you have to depower using the depower strap that the kite steering slows down a lot. With the huge wind range at max power we did not run in to this issue much, but we felt it was necessary to report.
Why you want the 2014 Liquid Force NRG:
If you want to jump higher and rip harder than all of your friends - the NRG is for you. The new materials and assistance in design from the Patagonia engineers have catapulted the NRG into the spot light for 2014.
