Designers goals (manufacturer text)
Flysurfer has always chosen its own unique way. Product cycles of two, three and sometimes even more years are normal for us. We follow an improvement-oriented approach to development, meaning we only release products when significant progress has been made. The Speed4 Lotus flies even earlier, is more stable in the sky, turns better and also jumps higher than its predecessor. Through the use of Lotus-cloth for the first time in a kite product, we were able to increase the longevity of the kite and the special material properties are simply amazing … You’ll feel it. The new 18.0m2 will be the desired size between 15.0m2 and 21.0m2 for many … we are convinced that the Speed4 Lotus will make your next kite session an unforgettable experience.

Conclusion
Fourth Speed serie of Flysurfer. You can see & feel that. Its tuned, stable with well balanced characteristics. Fast turning for a 18m foil and easy to ride without any strange flying characteristics. That makes it a allrounder under the big foils. The one you begin with. In its highend the 18m is harder to go upwind, you have to work to get the kite at the edge of the wind window.
Light wind? The foils are the best. You got two choices to ride and stay upwind with 6 knots of wind. Flysurfer Speed4 or Ozone Chrono
Between these two we think Flysurfer is the more allround foil.
Best use?
Low-end kitesurfing. Landboarding and Snowkiting
Basics
Total depower
Low end good, high end its harder to depower. Above 12 knots always a bit grunt if depowered.
Safety system
Working with Foils and bridles are always tricky in the water.
Kite re-launch
Easy, but know how to relaunch a foil on the water is very important. If crashed as soon as possible relaunch.
Windrange
The best low end. Riding in 6 knot on a 155x 45 twin tip. High end until 12 knots (depend on your weight)
Kite stability
Stable on the edge of the wind window. With foil kites you don't have the frame work like a tube. If you get used to a foil. The flysurfer Speed4 is very stable.
Oldskool
High-end
harder to go upwind, a bit grunt stays while depowered
Lift
Very gradual
Glide phase
The Flysurfer Speed range is famous about its gliding phase in the mountains. Learn the flying technic and you will love it.
Low-end
Foils got the best low end. Riding in 6 knots with a 155x45 twintip
Wave
Steering with low line tension
Drift
Turning circle
Speed4 vs Chrono Speed 4 is faster turning with a shorter turning circle
Feedback at edge of wind window
Reaction to steering action
Speed4 vs Chrono Speed 4 is faster turning with a shorter turning circle
Race
Going upwind
lowend good if the wind picks up its harder to go up wind

A good upgrade compare to the speed3 kite with many improved functions.

In short terms the new Flysurfer Speed Lotus was
- Spinning rapidly - Long jump - great durability.
Has more wind range than the speed 3. Generates much apparent wind so great low-end and upwind abilities. Really better than the Speed3. It's kite weight was very low. It's a Advanced kites with thinner lines and less bridles.
