High performance allrounder

Designers goals (manufacturer text)

  • Intermediate to advanced all round versatility
  • Direct and responsive steering
  • Unhooked performance

By starting from scratch with the all-new kite model for 2016, the Union sets out to unite the key Freestyle characteristics of the Razor, with the key characteristics of our Industry leading Wave kite and the Freeride abilities of the Lithium.

The next generation Dyneema Load Frame takes the biggest innovation in kite construction to a whole new level and is combined with the Technoforce D2 by Teijin, for the ultimate mix of durability and lightweight performance. For wave performance, this optimised weight is essential for improved drift stability, while the load frame makes all the difference when additional durability is required.

The result is a superbly balanced kite that excels in the broadest range of conditions, satisfying your demands no matter what the discipline.

Conclusion

We tested the new Union next to the new Airush Lithium 2016. To be short, the Union is more aggressive, more powerful lift & boost. The reaction of the Union is fast and the turning circle a bit wider. The Union is more suitable for unhook riding than the Lithium. Lithium has more all-round kite characteristics. One thing! Both kites are very stable with a great drift.
Stable, good depower and great drift, makes both Airush kites suitable for hydrofoiling.

We test the Airush series since 2008, the 2016 Airush series are one of the best, most balanced out kites we tested.

The Airush bar has a 1 line safety, where the bar slides far away from the rider. This makes it harder to restart again.

Had one short session with the new Airush Union 10m. Tested a view 2016 series from airush and I think Airush got their shit together! The 2016 kiteseries feels really solid in construction with a well balanced kitefeel. It seems like Airush knows it's public! The canopy from the new Union is real stable. Like all series, if its the special Dyneema Load Frame, I don't know, but in the air all kites have that solid compact feel. The new Union has the looks and feel of an open C kite. It has a short bar throw with a total depower. The Union is the one with performance Freeriding characteristics. Next to the Lithium it generates more and an explosive lift/boost. The Union likes to widen, like the Lithium, its wind window. The difference between the Union and Lithium is the explosiveness of the build up forces. The Union is much more explosive! Another difference between the 2 kites is the bar throw. The Union has a short and Lithium has a long bar trow (power/depower range). The Union also has the unhooking performance and more explosive power. I think the new Union is made for the Lithium riders who likes more performance power!
