High performance allrounder
Designers goals (manufacturer text)
- Intermediate to advanced all round versatility
- Direct and responsive steering
- Unhooked performance
By starting from scratch with the all-new kite model for 2016, the Union sets out to unite the key Freestyle characteristics of the Razor, with the key characteristics of our Industry leading Wave kite and the Freeride abilities of the Lithium.
The next generation Dyneema Load Frame takes the biggest innovation in kite construction to a whole new level and is combined with the Technoforce D2 by Teijin, for the ultimate mix of durability and lightweight performance. For wave performance, this optimised weight is essential for improved drift stability, while the load frame makes all the difference when additional durability is required.
The result is a superbly balanced kite that excels in the broadest range of conditions, satisfying your demands no matter what the discipline.

Conclusion
We tested the new Union next to the new Airush Lithium 2016. To be short, the Union is more aggressive, more powerful lift & boost. The reaction of the Union is fast and the turning circle a bit wider. The Union is more suitable for unhook riding than the Lithium. Lithium has more all-round kite characteristics. One thing! Both kites are very stable with a great drift.
Stable, good depower and great drift, makes both Airush kites suitable for hydrofoiling.
We test the Airush series since 2008, the 2016 Airush series are one of the best, most balanced out kites we tested.

Basics
Safety system
The Airush bar has a 1 line safety, where the bar slides far away from the rider. This makes it harder to restart again.
Total depower
Short, smooth depower stroke.. At its high end (+20 knots) a bit pressure left
Windrange
Good balance low-end & high-end
Kite re-launch
Depower the bar and pull the steering line. High end easy, low end the Union needs a bit more relaunch technic.
Kite stability
Great stability, we tested the Union in onshore & very gusty off shore winds. No problems!
Oldskool
Glide phase
Low-end
Lift
High-end
Smooth depower, a long stroke with steering controle but a short power/depower stroke
Wave
Turning circle
Reaction is fast the turning circle a bit wide
Steering with low line tension
Long stroke with good steering control
Feedback at edge of wind window
Drift
One of it's best kite characteristics. We tested the Union on a twintip & hydrofoil. Always tension on the backlines, means always in control!
Reaction to steering action
Fast and direct reaction, pretty wide turning circle
Race
Acceleration
Going upwind
Pretty wide wind window
