Designers goals (manufacturer text)

The SHAMAN 2 perpetuates the innovative SHAMAN range that was successfully launched in winter 2017/18. For its updated version, we have kept its much-appreciated shape, as well as its revolutionizing combination of mono-skin and closed cells construction. We have added numerous exciting features in the construction and the fittings to make all the difference this winter!

As its first version, the SHAMAN 2 is the result of intensive development by the renowned Swiss designer Olivier Nef, our research team and the GIN riders.

NEW FEATURES

  • The new bridles on the SHAMAN 2 offer a more reactive turn while retaining the iconic stability of the kite
  • The inter-cell are now protected by an extra-thin border and all bridle attachment points are equipped with an additional, yet super-light reinforcement. The SHAMAN 2 is hence even more solid but remains feather-light!
  • We have equipped the top bridles with grey lines to improve their visibility in the snow
  • A discrete GIN logo in the center of the leading edge helps you to rapidly identify the middle of the kite when folding, even in strong wind
  • We have maintained the color code of the different kite sizes and have complimented it by a beautiful Bordeaux shade

THE SHAMAN 2

  • The skin construction reduces the weight of almost 50% of a standard foil kite
  • The closed cells on the wingtips cancel out the vibrations and the noisy flapping
  • The profile of the SHAMAN 2 allows for a super stable kite with a huge depower
  • The intermediate aspect ratio offers an impressive performance
  • Constructed according to Swiss design and with high-quality materials (Skytex 38 cloth from Porcher, France)
  • Developed with the GIN ICED BAR V3, certified according to European norm (AFNOR)
  • 100% depower thanks to the 5th line quick release system
  • Comes with a compression strap and a light inner bag

We used the Gin Shaman V2 in the snow during snowkite backcountry trips. We're amazed by its low end. The 6m was in 10 knots powerfull enough to pull us (94kg) uphill. The depower is great so no worries. The Shaman is controllable, easy to handle, wide windrange and really safe. We believe for a long time now that the single skins have a real future. In schools for to teach the depower kiting skills. For landboarding (skate/skateboard/mountainboard) for kids to play around. The lack of lift and boost (under 4bft) make these kites great playing around!
Love them!

We tested the Gin Shaman V2 9m during backcountry snowkiting. This Kite has a great low end and stability! It's light, easy to use, great depower and all kinds of turning circles. Small and tight to big rond turns with power in the whole circle (great for climbing uphill). We had some gusty dyays but stil the Shaman keeps its profile. The new double skin wing tips really helps against fluttering and wing tips collaps. If you are looking for a snowkite, mountainboard kite. This Shaman V2 is a really good choice!

This is a low-end review!! I say this because I just wanted to test the 6m in it's really really low-end range. We use the 6m single skin kites a lot in our school. Most of the time Kids and beginners who playfully learning the skills of 4 line kite steering. (power-depower-kite control) So the low end is important for us, the kite has to be stable (keeps it shape), give a good feedback (safe and control feeling) and off-course easy relaunch and kite control. (learning by doing).
So we tested the low end between 4 and 8 knots . Well, ... I hoped it was like the 9m Shaman, but it wasn't really like that. In its low-end it looses a bit drift capacity, makes it a bit less stable and sometimes a bit steerless, but it worked much better in + 7 knots. In +7 knots we had the feeling we are looking for. So for the -7 knots the 9m works great, the 6m works great from 7+ NEXT test + 10 knots of wind and we will try the 6m and 4m Shaman.

Rode the Gin Shaman 9m on a skateboard. Really stable, good power control and easy starters kite. The thing is withe this single skin, they are crazy light and have tons of controllable power. Great for playing around in light wind. oSkateboards, InlineSkates actually everything what rolls can be fun with the Gin Shaman, We do a test between the different single skins, so stay tuned
