Who is the kite meant for?
The new Bolt is a fusion of the "old" Naish Helix and Cult models and design to be predictable and to offer stability. This latest Sigma shaped kite in the 2011 Naish range is the allrounder for various circumstances.
The larger sizes were designed for power, the smaller sizes for control. Performance in a large range with stability as a key word.
Off-water
The Bolt is a 4 line kite with 5 struts. The kite is equiped with Naish's one pump Octopus system. The canopy and the leading edge of the kite are covered with tribal graphics. The Bolt has the following features:
-
Sliding stopper
-
Ultra-soft Power Flew bar ends
-
NEW - Vario bar end adjustment 18" - 20" (41CM - 51CM)
On-water
One of the first things you notice when you launch the Bolt is the light pressure of the kite. Naish created a distinct feeling with the Sigma design, something you feel very clearly in the 2011 Bolt.
Even when you get the feeling that there is too little wind, the Bolt gets you up and allows you to go upwind. Every gust results in a forward acceleration. In it's high-end the kite develops some performance characteristics. However, the lack of lift and boost make the Bolt a kite for beginners and allround freeriders.
Conclusion
The light bar pressure, the stability, the easy re-launch and the total de-power make the kite very suitable for kids, starters and anybody else who is looking for a kite that is predictable and trustworthy. The kite will not surprise you with unexpected power buildup, does not drop out of the sky and is relaunchable even with minimal wind (Previous Sigma models were difficult te re-launch in light wind conditions, so we are pleased to see this has been improved). In it's high end the Bolt does perform well but do not expect a lot of lift or boost. The light bar-pressure could be nice for wave riders, however, the large turning circle and the lack of reaction when the steering lines are a bit slack makes it less suitable for the waves.
The Bolt is Soft, subtle, forgiving and dependable!

During our test the Safety release was activated unintended when lightly touched.

The low-end of the Bolt is mediocre, in particular with the standard short lines. Using extentions under 16Knots will increase performance.

Even with very little wind the Bold is easy to re-launch
Total depower
Total depower and very stable!

There are 6 reviews on this product:
It's gradual, the Bolt is all about weight and level.
Light weight riders and children will like it, great safety, depower, light barpressure.
For big jumps, the more rider weight, the more high-end you looking for.
