3 strut SLE delta shaped kite
Designers goals
Sculp is a high performance kite for intermediate level riders all the way to experts. It provides all aspects any rider would expect from a high performance kite. Sculp really is something every rider will appreciate.
Flying Abilities
Due to its shape and design, Sculp has can be used for a wide variety of riding styles. It delivers high performance for freeride, freestyle, race and wave riding.
Quick turning response
Speedy profile and light weight of the kite enables the kite to cut faster through air. Special bridle and lines set up provide instant response of the kite to rider’s inputs. It feels like there is not distance between the rider and the kite.
Excellent power for jumping
The shape of Sculp generates loads of power for jumping. Speedy profile of the kite provides fast, powered kite loops and extra long flights in the air.
Easy relaunch
Just pull on one line and Sculp pops right back in the air. Every rider trying to learn new things will appreciate the simple and quick relaunch of Sculp.
Depower
Sculp offers a wide range of depower available for comfortable riding. The kite is easily controlled and steered when depowered.
Speed profile struts
Learning from the airplane and wing design industry we came up with a special speed profile of the struts. This profile shape increases the speed of Sculp rapidly.
Low profile wingtips
This shape feature of the wing tips gives the kite lower air resistance and enables the kite to fly faster. The low profile wing tips cut through air with minimum resistance and the rider has more control over the kite.
Bar
CrazyFly Equip Bar II was carefully developed and designed to be: simple, easy to use, comfortable, safe and of highest quality.
Simple and clean design
The designs of every part of the Equip Bar II were kept simple and had to provide the desired effects for maximum performance. This makes the bar very user friendly and simple to use.
Smart Stopper
The stopper can be easily moved along the depower line with one hand using just two fingers. Although it moves easily when pushed with a hand, it does not move an inch if you hit it with the bar. The stopper has a special shape and due to this, it will never slam your fingers between itself and the bar.
Standard 24m flying lines
All Flying Lines on both 4 line and 5 line Equip bar II are 24 meters long. Therefore all Flying Lines can be easily replaced.

Conclusion
Fine characteristics. However. The inferior finish might put you in danger!!
The Crazylfy Sculp is a super fast kite with a very small turning circle. It is a kite with a number of good characteristics which might appeal to the more advanced rider looking for a playful kite.
However, the quality and finish of this kite is sub-standard, in particular the safety on the bar. The safety is very prone to ware and will no longer function when the elasticity of the band keeping the safety in place is gone. When the kite is in the water the pull remains, something which is a potential hazard in deep water. When ejecting the kite, by pulling the safety, the bar is too far away to grab and there is a big chance of the lines getting tangled, this decreases the chance of safely re-launching the kite!
The industry has to ask itself how far they are willing to reduce cost, even when this might result in less durability, ease of use, and most important safety!
The Crazyfly importer informed us that a new bar is in the making.
Basics
Kite re-launch
Lot of pressure when the kite is lying leading edge down on the water, swimming against is is hard. Restart is easy
Safety system
Poor finishing, safety sensitive for wearing out, using safety little change of restarting the kite
Windrange
Kite stability
Stable at the edge of the windwindow
Total depower
Total depower, fly the sculp with tension on the steering lines
Oldskool
Glide phase
High-end
Less tension on steering lines, Sculp harder to fly
Lift
Low-end
Wave
Steering with low line tension
Short depower stroke, no tension on steering lines, you losses steering reaction. Right kite adjustment are importand for performance
Feedback at edge of wind window
good feedback with tension on the steering lines
Reaction to steering action
Fast and direct, it changed during the session (material elasticity?)
Turning circle
Short in the whole windwindow
Race
Kiteposition in wind-window
Maximum speed
More speed gives more drag
Acceleration
Going upwind
Underpowered good upwind characteristics
